Man Charged with Evading & Resisting Arrest after Driving in Stolen Vehicle

Odessa Police arrested Ernesto Esquivel, date of birth 02/05/1981, on 4-10-18 at approximately 1830 hours for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle “State Jail Felony”, Evading Arrest or Detention “Class A Misdemeanor”, and Resisting Arrest “Class A Misdemeanor”. On 4-1-18 at approximately 1805 hours, Odessa Police responded to Avenue D and 11th Street in reference to a recovered stolen white Ford F-150.

Upon arriving in the area, officers observed a white Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on 11th Street at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver immediately exited and fled the scene on foot. The suspect, identified as Esquivel, was later located in the area of 16th Street and West Loop 338. Esquivel resisted arrest but was eventually placed into custody and transported to the ECLEC.

Man Arrested 2nd Time for Family Violence after Causing Rollover Crash

Odessa Police arrested Elgin James Castillo, date of birth 11/09/1981, on 4-5-18 at approximately 2145 hours for Assault Family Violence with Prior Convictions “3rd Degree Felony”. Officers responded to the 2400 block of North Grandview in reference to a major crash. Upon arrival, officers observed a Nissan Sentra laying upside down.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 38-year-old female and her husband, identified as Castillo. Investigation revealed that Castillo began to yell at his wife and she asked him to pull over but he refused. Castillo began to hit his wife in the face with a closed fist before biting her. Officers observed bodily injury on her face, including two bite marks.

During the incident, Castillo lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over. Investigation revealed that Castillo had a prior conviction for assault family violence. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Castillo was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

Odessa Police Make 3 Arrests in Connection to Counterfeit Check Investigation

Odessa Police arrested Lucas Monty Mansell DOB 8-6-88, Richard Kyle Hughes DOB 4-28-88, and Jerred Raymond Williams DOB 10-26-87, on 4-10-18 at approximately 2130 hours for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity “3rd Degree Felony”. Mansell was additionally charged with Tampering with Government Records “3rd Degree Felony”.

Officers responded to 2804 Andrews Highway (Kwik Kash) in reference to a counterfeit check report. Upon arrival, officers made contact with three male suspects, who were attempting to cash fraudulent checks. The three suspects were identified as Mansell, Hughes, and Williams.

Further investigation revealed that Mansell was in possession of a fraudulent identification card that showed to be issued by the “Texas Department of Public Safety”. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, all three subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.
