Odessa Police Charge Man in Connection to Bribery Investigation
Odessa Police arrested John Stephen Bedgood, date of birth 03/30/1984, on 6-11-18 at approximately 0042 hours for Bribery “2nd Degree Felony” and Public Intoxication “Class C Misdemeanor”. Officers responded to 2113 Kermit Highway (Basin Nights) in reference to a male subject causing a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male subject, identified as Bedgood, who was identified as the person who had been causing the disturbance. Officers found Bedgood to be intoxicated and placed him into custody for public intoxication. While officers were transporting Bedgood the ECLEC, he repeatedly offered to give the officer $700 to take him home.
The OPD officer advised Bedgood that he would be charged with bribery if he did not stop bribing him. However, Bedgood continued to bribe the officer on multiple occasions by offering him $700. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Bedgood was additionally charged with bribery.
