The Firearms/Armory Unit, which is coordinated by Sergeant Carlos Chavez, provides firearms training and weapon maintenance to the Odessa Police Department's officers and equipment.

The Unit maintains 39 Special Weapons and Tactics weapons and 35 Remington 870 shotguns for use by the Patrol Services Bureau.

The Unit provides firearms training to all officers on a regular basis and provided monthly tactical and firearms training to the Special Weapons and Tactics team.
