TYPE OF INCIDENT: Wanted Person In Custody

DATE/TIME OCCURRED: August 6, 2011, at approximately 1:00 a.m.

LOCATION: 2600 block of East 25th Street.


On January 11, 2012, Jason Duane Peters, D.O.B 03/19/1984, turned himself into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. He was booked at 5:29 a.m., and bond has been set at $25,000.


On August 6, 2011, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Odessa Police Department responded to a major car-pedestrian crash in the 2600 block of East 25th Street. Upon their arrival officers learned that a two-tone Gray 2002 Ford Mustang had hit a pedestrian as he was crossing the street, causing serious bodily injuries. The driver of the Mustang then fled the scene of the accident and did not offer assistance to the victim.


On August 13, 2011, officers located the Mustang. A search warrant was obtained and during the search officers were able to collect evidence that indicated the driver was also injured during the accident.


On November 7, 2011, the driver of the Mustang was located and a search warrant obtained for DNA analysis. Based on information obtained, officers were able to obtain an arrest warrant charging Jason Duane Peters, DOB 03/19/1984 with the offense of Fail to Stop and Render Aid, a Felony of the 3rd Degree.
