Common Questions

Ordinances that pertain to the regulation of animals can be found in Chapter
Two (2) of the
City Code.

The most frequently answered question at the Shelter is how many pets can a citizen have in Odessa? You can own up to four pets.

For citizens that live outside the city limits the Shelter can provide you with Ector County Regulations on dogs and cats.

The one rule that is important for county residents to know is if your dog or cat is not wearing a currently vaccinated Rabies tag/county license you can not allow it to be at large.
Unvaccinated pets must be restrained.

Citizens can leave a message after hours on our answering machine for lost pets, routine calls for service or animal neglect cases.

Animal Control provides service to citizens within the City of Odessa and the County.

Dogs and Cats that are currently vaccinated for rabies are held for 10 days
