Odessa Police Make 2 Arrests in Connection to Burglary Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Conrad Cortez DOB 10-22-77 and Ernesto Ortiz Jr. DOB 6-16-87, on 2-10-20 at approximately 2200 hours for Burglary of a Habitation “2nd Degree Felony”. Ortiz was additionally charged with Evading Arrest or Detention “Class A Misdemeanor”, Resisting Arrest “Class A Misdemeanor”, and Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 “State Jail Felony”.
Odessa Police responded to the 1200 block of North Lincoln in reference to a check building call. Dispatch advised that the lights were on in the residence and that there wasn’t supposed to be anyone inside. Upon arrival, officers observed 2 males rummaging through the kitchen and placing items into a bin. Both suspects immediately began to flee the scene as soon as they saw the OPD officers.
Both suspects were caught and identified as Cortez and Ortiz. Ortiz resisted arrest but was eventually placed into custody by multiple officers. Ortiz was found to be in possession of 45 hydrocodone pills that were individually packaged into groups of 5 and 10 pills. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.
