Odessa Police Warning Public about Counterfeit Money
Odessa Police have made an arrest in connection to a forgery investigation. Brianna Raylynn Walker, date of birth 09/07/2002, has been charged with Forgery “3rd Degree Felony”. On 3-16-20, officers responded to Murphy USA, Burlington Coat Factory, La Nueva Moda and Journey’s in reference to counterfeit money being passed. Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Walker. Investigation revealed that Walker attempted to pass counterfeit money at all 4 of the listed businesses. Officers later found approximately $4,000 worth of counterfeit money inside of Walker’s vehicle. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Walker was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.
The Odessa Police Department would like to warn residents and businesses about the recent circulation of counterfeit bills in Odessa. The Odessa Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating several cases involving counterfeit $100 and $50 bills. The Odessa Police Department would like to caution businesses to be careful and check all bills closely. The counterfeit bills are usually thinner and smaller than real bills. The presidential watermark should be able to be seen when held up to the light on real bills.
