Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Melrose Robbery

Odessa Police have made an arrest in connection to a robbery that occurred Saturday evening at Melrose Family Fashions. Louis Christopher Cowan, date of birth 12/28/2000, has been charged with Aggravated Robbery “1st Degree Felony”.
On 5-11-19 at approximately 1758 hours, Odessa Police responded to 3301 Andrews Highway in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, who advised that an unknown male subject, later identified as Cowan, attempted to purchase merchandise with a counterfeit bill.
Cowan then exited the store with the unpaid merchandise and dropped his wallet in the parking lot while fleeing the scene on his bike. When Cowan returned for his wallet, he threatened a witness with a large knife. Cowan then fled the scene a second time. There were no reports of any injuries.
On 5-11-19 at approximately 2206 hours, officers located Cowan in the 800 block of West 33rd Street. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Cowan was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.
