OPD Honor Guard Attends National Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony

The Odessa Police Department Honor Guard is currently in Washington D.C. for National Police Week, which is set aside to recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement that have been killed in the line of duty. The OPD Honor Guard is part of the cordon for President Trump, as he speaks today during the 38th Annual National Peace Officer Memorial Service. The public is encouraged to replace their porch lights with blue bulbs during National Police Week.   

On Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10am, OPD, MPD, ECSO, MCSO, DPS, Lubbock PD and several other local agencies will hold a memorial service to honor fellow officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The service will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 6801 East Highway 80, Odessa, Texas. The Odessa Police Department will conduct a brief memorial service for all of the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty the past year in Texas.
