OFR Division Captain Joey White Promoted

May 17, 2019 - Odessa Fire Rescue Division Captain, Joey White, has been promoted to the position of Assistant Chief of Administration effective June 1, 2019. 

Chief Alvarez said, "I know that Chief White will continue to serve this department and our community in this new capacity. I look forward to him becoming part of the administration team."

Chief White will have 27 years in the fire service in a few months, with 14 years in a supervisory level. He has been a Division Captain for over 4 years and has worked side by side with Battalion Chief Danny Wyatt and Battalion Chief Kavin Tinney on “A” and “B” shift.

His brother, Bobby White, is the Battalion Chief on “B” shift.  His older brother, Donald, works for the San Angelo Fire Department and his mother, Sally White, retired from Odessa Fire Rescue in March of 2000 as the Fire Marshal.  He has two grown sons, Wesley and Jorden and a granddaughter Ivy Grace.

He is a graduate of the Texas Fire Chief’s Academy and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fire and Emergency Services Administration from Texas A&M University San Antonio. He is currently completing a Master’s degree in Public Administration from The University of Texas Permian Basin this summer. He is eager to start the next chapter in his career as an Assistant Fire Chief.
