Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Evading/Child Endangerment Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Anthony Joseph Padilla, date of birth 10/11/2001, on 6-19-19 at approximately 1314 hours for Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle “State Jail Felony”, two counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child “State Jail Felony”, and Evading Arrest or Detention “Class A Misdemeanor”.
Officers responded to 100 East University (CVS Pharmacy) in reference to a disturbance. The complainant advised that a male and female were fighting inside the store. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 17-year-old female and her boyfriend, later identified as Padilla. The 17-year-old female was crying and had bodily injury on her right arm.
When officers asked the 17-year-old female about the injuries, she advised that she had been attacked by a dog in the alley. Padilla then advised officers that they didn’t need assistance and began running out of the store. Officers instructed Padilla to stop but he ignored officers’ commands and entered a black 2011 Chevrolet Silverado.
Padilla then evaded officers eastbound at a high rate of speed before turning southbound on Jackson and eastbound on 21st Street. Padilla then turned southbound on Tom Green before being stopped by other OPD officers at 7th and Tom Green. A 7-year-old male and 10-year-old male were located inside of the listed vehicle.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Padilla was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Both children were released to a family member.
