Subject with a Gun Call Leads to Arrests of 4 Subjects with Guns & Narcotics

Odessa Police have made 4 arrests in connection to a subject with a gun call that occurred this past weekend in Southeast Odessa. Odessa Police arrested Luis Armendariz date of birth 08/03/2001, on 7-28-19 at approximately 0214 hours for Evading with a Motor Vehicle “Felony 3”. Odessa Police arrested Dayton Lynn date of birth 08/06/2000 and Austin Subia date of birth 05/04/2001, for Possession of Marijuana “Misdemeanor B”.

Odessa Police also arrested Jonathan Almanza DOB 05/26/2002, for 2 counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance “Felony 1”, 2 counts of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon “Misdemeanor A”, Theft of a Firearm “SJF”, Possession of Marijuana “SJF”, Possession of a Dangerous Drug (Xanax) “Misdemeanor A”, and Evading Arrest “Misdemeanor A”.

While working off-duty at La Playa Night Club, OPD officers were flagged down in reference to the occupants of a gray Kia Soul displaying handguns out of the vehicle. Officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle, traveling through the parking lot. Officers activated their lights and sirens and the listed vehicle evaded officers but eventually stopped.

The front passenger immediately exited and began running westbound with a handgun in his hand. The front passenger, later identified as Almanza, ran northbound on Grandview before turning eastbound into the alley behind Metro PCS. Almanza threw two handguns onto the ground while evading officers but was eventually caught and placed into custody. Investigation revealed that one of the handguns had been reported stolen.

The driver of the listed vehicle was identified as Armendariz and the other two passengers as Lynn and Subia. Officers located a rifle inside of the vehicle, along with marijuana, THC cartridges, Xanax, and 11.7 grams of cocaine. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, all four subjects were charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.
