Safe Zones for the Week of 10-7-19
One of the goals of the Odessa Police Department is a motoring public, which is safe, courteous and accident free. In pursuit of this goal, the Department will periodically designate “Safe Zones” throughout the city. These “Safe Zones” are areas in which traffic enforcement will be increased in an effort to gain traffic law compliance.
Expect to see officers of the Odessa Police Department working these areas singly or in groups in an effort to gain compliance through education and enforcement. Officers working “Safe Zones” will be enforcing all traffic laws but will pay close attention to red light, seat belt, stop sign, speeding and truck route violations.
The “Safe Zones” we would like our motoring public to be aware of for next week are South Highway 385 (from IH-20 to South Loop 338), West 42nd Street (from Kermit Highway to West County Road), and East Highway 191 (from East Loop 338 to Lightin Road).
Please take note of this “Safe Zone” and remind your family and friends we will be taking enforcement action in this area next week. By working together and obeying the law, perhaps we can reduce traffic crashes, injuries and most importantly fatalities by making our streets a safer place on which to drive on.
