OPD Encouraging Parents to Speak to their Kids about Drugs
Red Ribbon Week is October 23rd through October 31st. The National Family Partnership provides drug awareness by sponsoring the annual Red Ribbon Week. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in 1985, communities across the country began wearing red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America. Did you know that parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t, yet only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.
