Odessa Police Conduct Sex Offender Compliance Operation “REAP Harvest”
On October 23, 2019, members of the “Registration, Enforcement, Apprehension, and Prosecution” (REAP) team, conducted a compliance inspection of registered sex offenders within the jurisdiction of Odessa. During the compliance inspection, registered sex offenders were contacted to insure each offender is properly listing their current address, place of employment, and other compliance restrictions placed on these offenders through the judicial system. At this time, approximately 225 sex offenders are being monitored by the City of Odessa Police Department. A total of 11 third-degree felony warrants were obtained in connection to this operation.
These random inspections are conducted at various times of the year to insure that offenders who reside within our community are following mandated guidelines assigned through the courts. Throughout the year investigators conduct inspections confirming information updates regarding moves in residency, employment, etc. Most Sex offenders were contacted to verify their information during this operation.
There were approximately 110 sworn law enforcement personnel and civilians who assisted in the process of the inspection. The participating agencies were:
